My Girl Kerry Washington Featured in Will.i.am’s Video Sequel to “Yes We Can”
March 3, 2008
Will.i.am went back in the lab, rounded up even more celebrities and recorded another song and video in support of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.
Titled “We Are The Ones,” the track features Kerry Washington, Regina King, Malcolm Jamal Warner, Tichina Arnold, Tyrese and a host of Hispanic entertainers such as Jessica Alba, John Leguizamo and George Lopez explaining why they support Obama while the vocal refrain of “O-BA-MA! O-BA-MA!” is sung and chanted in the background by others, such as Macy Gray.
The song is a follow-up to will.i.am’s inspirational video “Yes We Can,” a viral sensation that has garnered more than 5 million hits on YouTube.com alone. That song features Obama’s voice from a New Hampshire concession speech set to will.i.am’s music and melody, plus vocalizations of the speech from the likes of Scarlet Johansson, John Legend, Kate Walsh, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Herbie Hancock and other celebrity supporters.
Kerry Washington, who’s in Texas campaigning for Obama, said she got involved in the “We Are The Ones” video after some fellow volunteers alerted her to the video shoot. She said she’s already gotten dozens of phone calls since the clip debuted Feb. 29 on will.i.am’s www.Dipdive.com. As far as whether it will bring more people to the polls tomorrow for Obama, Washington said:
“It’s a hard thing to quantify. But … it’s evidence of how inspired the nation has become. The arts have always been a place where people express their dreams and hopes. … What’s happening is people are seeing their own excitement reflected in a national forum, and it sort of increases that excitement exponentially.”Is this Really Ne-yo?!?!?
March 2, 2008
This picture was labeled as “Ne-Yo and Solange” and was taken at the “Ne-Yo, Zune, and Compound Entertainment Pre-Grammy Party” on Feb. 9. I once heard that Ne-yo had a stipulation in his contract stating that he was not allowed to do any public appearances without a hat on. I thought it was stupid until I saw this picture. I’m still not fully conviced that that’s Ne-Yo, it has to be like his little brother or something…. Does anyone know who this is, or can confirm that it’s him? Please comment.
BET’s Rip the Runway Red Carpet Misfits
March 2, 2008
BET’s Rip the Runway ‘08, hosted by Nelly and Lauren London airs on March 4, 10 p.m. Missy Elliot provided the live music for models strolling down the catwalk rocking pieces from her Addidas line. Pharrell and Team N.E.R.D. including Teyana Taylor performed during the Zac Posen set. Trey Songz performed as well. Plenty showed up to the red carpet with their A-game but a few noticeably did not, and I’m calling out names!
Rita G. came dressed for a magic show and I guess T-Pain was the magician.
I’m only disappointed because I don’t understand her…. left is Rip the Runway, right is the MTV awards… This ain’t the tents in Bryant Park or a business meeting so why did Lil Mama skip out on her chance to really show us something? I just don’t get it. But then again there are plenty of things about little mama that I don’t get, and probably never will get like, what’s her purpose? and why do we keep her around?
Jaslene (Cycle 8 winner of America’s Next Top Model), I’m glad to see that you’re eating but WHAT are you wearing? It’s like she took two current fashion trends (the once piece jumper dress and wearing black leggings with everything), mixed in a 2001 trend (those Manolo Blahnik Timb-looking things on her feet), and added a little pink and green make-up to clash with that very unesscessary creme belt and the other 5 color she’s wearing. HI-DE-OUS!
Fashion: Why We’re Jealous of Teyana Taylor
February 19, 2008
If you don’t know who Teyana Taylor is you need to download her first single “Google Me” and follow instructions.
Where she’s from: Planet Harlem
Where you’ve seen her before: Jumping out of the Barbie box on MTV’s “My Supersweet 16,” dancing in Jay Z’s ”Blue Magic” video, or demonstrating how to do the “Tone Whop” at the lastest Uptown function.
Who she is: The newest addition to Team N.E.R.D.
Hobbies: Skateboarding, shopping, singing/rapping.
Why we love her: Because her Tomboy Chic style and Uptown Swag is undeniably endearing. What girl doesn’t want to dress like a boy and still manage to look super sexy?
Why we’re jealous of her: Because we couldn’t pull off her style no matter how hard we tried, she’s uniquely Teyana, the self-proclaimed “Teen President.”
